Census data

Unfortunately the census earlier than 1851 for this area no longer exist. Most times in parishes where they are found they contain little detail other than names of heads of families. The latest census we can use if the 1911 census, which is free to search, but you will need to pay for access either by online voucher or by subscription.

There is a link to the transcribed census on Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor genealogy website.

1841, 1851, 1851, 1871, 1891 and 1901 Census.

Census data is also available at Ancestry.co.uk. You are able to access this, either by a 2 week trial [ your card details are required - so please cancel before the 2 weeks expire or you will automatically be charged.] or via a subscription. You may also view ancestry at your local Library for free.

These days research is relatively easier than twenty years ago as there are so many online facilities. Another excellent website for UK census date is at Find My Past. They too have a 14 days trial.

Find my Past - Payment options

Most of their records are free to search, you only need to pay to view images and transcripts.
