Description: WALK TO VISIT FYFIELD DOWN SSSI (2.5 mile walk from Avebury) Peter Keene has led visits to this remote landscape reserve for many years: archaeology, sarsen rock streams & dry valleys. We leave civilisation (Avebury, food, toilets) for over 4 hours. Bring packed lunch and weather-proof clothing. Limited places on walk so booking needed (contact Pam Woodward 01865 820500 for details and tickets). Avebury map with main car park (GR: 101697) on ticket. 10.30am start from Red Lion (Avebury), 5 mile walk returns to Red Lion (rendezvous?) 4pm-ish. Longworth and District History Society. ALTERNATIVE: For those (car sharing) who prefer a day in Avebury; sites of interest booklet provided.
